A privately owned licensed Shipping Agency and Logistics Company operating in Belize, Central America.
Founded in 2007, Dan Shipping Services Limited was launched by Mr. Dwight Dougal who brings over 30 years of expertise in the Belize shipping industry offering mainly logistic services for the local Belizean public. He then teamed up with an international Shipping Line, Freight Forwarders and Logistics Companies and expanded the services to customers both locally and internationally. With the combined effort of our partners, experienced specialists, and dedicated service team, we offer personalized and guaranteed Shipping Services via Air Freight, Ocean Freight (LCL & FCL) and Overland Transportation along with a full line of logistics services.

Country Profile
LOCATION:
Formerly known as the British colony called British Honduras, Belize lies between latitudes 15o 53″ and 18o 30″ North and longitudes 87o 15″ and 89o 15″ West. The country is bordered by Mexico to the North, Guatemala to the West and South and the Caribbean Sea to the East. Belize’s geo-political location enables itself to be both a member of CARICOM (Caribbean Community), SICA (Central American Integration Systems) and Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC).
SIZE:
Approximately 8,867 square miles in area including 266 square miles of offshore islands, Belize is poised with mainland, cayes (pronounced keys), offshore atolls and the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere being 185 miles long.
CLIMATE:
The climate is subtropical with prevailing winds from the Caribbean Sea. The annual temperature averages 27° Celsius / 80° Fahrenheit. There are 2 main seasons: wet which is from May to mid-November and dry which is from mid-November to April.
GOVERNMENT:
Belize is an independent country since 1981, with a democratically elected parliamentary government. It is a member of the British Commonwealth. Local government is a system of city councils, town councils, village councils and community councils.
POPULATION:
The population of Belize is approximately 360,000 comprised of diverse ethnic groups including: Creole, Garifuna, Mestizo, Maya, Mennonite, East Indian, Lebanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, etc. These groups have blended successfully as a result of ethnic harmony and tolerance. Belize is known for its accommodating and friendly people.
LANGUAGE:
The official language of Belize is English. Cultural diversity empowers other languages such as: Kriol, Garifuna, Spanish, Mayan (Mopan, Ketchi & Yucatec), German, Mandarin etc. belonging to the various groups.
TIME ZONE:
Belize is in the GMT-6 time zone or US Central Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is not observed.
CURRENCY:
Established in 1982, the Belize Dollar has a fixed exchange rate to the US dollar (BZD $2 = USD $1). Other currencies such as £ Pounds and € Euros can be exchanged at most banks. ATM machines are available in major towns and cities. American Express, Visa and Master Card are widely accepted, however, cash is preferred in most shops.
CLOTHING:
Light, cotton clothing is highly recommended during the day. For cooler temperatures, long clothing is handy. Outdoor activities such as hiking, especially in the higher terrain areas of the country such as the “Mayan Mountain” area would require comfortable and protective clothing and products and such as enclosed shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, etc.
CUISINE:
Hotels, restaurants, and casual dining establishments offer both local and international choices such as: American style, Lebanese, Indian etc. Staples such as: white rice, corn tortillas, stew beans, and fried chicken are common in the everyday Belizean diet. Fruits and vegetables are often seasonal and organically sourced.
